World No Tobacco Day 2026 : Panel Discussion

On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day 2026, Nepal Cancer Relief Society (NCRS) organized an insightful panel discussion at Radisson Hotel Kathmandu on 27th May, bringing together experts, advocates, survivors, and stakeholders to discuss the health, social, and economic impacts of tobacco use and the collective actions needed for a tobacco-free future.
The discussion featured:

• Dr. Sudip Shrestha, Nepal Cancer Hospital Harisiddhi
• Ms. Kshitija Shakya, Cancer Survivor
• Mr. Jyoti Baniya, Consumer Rights Activist
The session was moderated by journalist Mrs. Sajana Tamang Kunwar.
The program was attended by NCRS Central Board members, representatives from Kathmandu and Kavre branches, cancer patients and their families, and other key stakeholders. During the interactive session, several patients inquired about the availability of government financial support for cancer treatment and expressed concerns regarding the ongoing shortage of cancer medicines.
Together, we can raise awareness, inspire action, and build a healthier, tobacco-free Nepal.
