Saankhu Awareness and Screening Camp

The Awareness Class and the Cervical Cancer Screening Camp were organized by Nepal Cancer Relief Society – Kathmandu Branch with the help of Saankhu Jaycees. The awareness class was facilitated by Dr. Selina Khanal and Matron Laxmi Kesari Shrestha of NCRS Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital where they took classes on Breast and Cervical Cancer.
Before the classes, there were few introductory messages from the President of Saankhu Jaycees JC Rajesh Shrestha, NCRS Kathmandu Branch President Mr. Ajay Singh Suwal and Miss Newa 2014 Ms. Alisha Bajracharya. There were Executive Board Members of Saankhu Jaycees and NCRS Kathmandu Branch present at the program with representatives from NCRS Central Office and NCRS Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital as well.
There were around 100 women present in the class of various ages. The class was followed by a short discussion round where the participants asked various questions on the topics.
Saankhu Cervical Cancer Screening Camp

The Cervical Cancer Screening Camp included a Pap Smear test for the women of Saankhu. There were more than 130 female participants who went through the test. The tests were conducted by Dr. Sharmila Shrestha and Dr. Selina Khanal of NCRS Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital with their team of 9 hospital staff members.
